’s Minister of Tourism Yehia Rashed has revealed that is planning to host a tennis match between stars Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic later this year.

Rashed spoke on the phone during a show on Egypt’s CBC network channel addressing the issue with tourism in Egypt and the vision the Ministry of Tourism has to boost tourism to Egypt.

“We want to set up the match to be near the Great Pyramids of Giza and to show people around the world how security in Egypt is increasing,” he said, and continued, “it will be a match between two greats in the world.”

World No. 1 Djokovic and World No. 5 Nadal have faced each other 49 times in official competitions, with Djokovic being victorious in the most recent encounter at the ATP Rome Masters.

A similar event was hosted within walking distance of the Pyramids in 1998 with women players Arantxa Sanchez-Vicario, Anna Kournikova, Maria Sanchez-Lorenzo and Olga Barabanschikova taking part in a two-day exhibition. In the final, Sanchez-Vicario beat Kournikova.
