VIDEO: Salah scores as Al Ahly beat Roma

Ahmed El-Sheikh’s late goal snatched Al Ahly a 4-3 victory over Italian side in a friendly match at Hazza Ben Zayed Stadium at the UAE on Friday.

Al Ahly looked more dangerous in the first few minutes of the first half, but Roma managed to respond quickly through a Dzeko shot, which was collected by Al Ahly keeper Sherif Ekramy.

Thirteen minutes into the match, John Antwi gave Al Ahly the lead; the Ghanaian striker found Momen Zakaria’s pass and sent the ball into the bottom left corner of the net.

Right after the goal, Roma were close to equalise through Edin Dzeko, whose right-footed shot hit the left post.

Seven minutes after Al Ahly’s goal, Roma’s pressure paid off as Dzeko levelled the scoreline. Totti passed the ball perfectly for Dzeko, who chested it down and scored with his left foot after Rami Rabia failed to get the ball.

Five minutes later, Roma were close to add a second but Ekramy saved Strootman’s left-footed shot to keep the scoreline 1-1.

The Red Devils responded with a counter-attack through a sprint by Walid Soliman from the half-way line but his weak shot was saved.

Four minutes to the break, international Mohamed Salah put Roma in the front. Dzeko squared the ball to Salah who fired into the net with his left foot.

Right after the goal, Momen Zakaria leveled for Al Ahly, making it 2-2. squared the ball to Zakaria who curled the ball with his right foot into the far corner.

At the beginning of the second half, Al Ahly manager brought on Bassem Ali, Saad Samir, Hussein El-Sayed and Hossam Ashour to replace Mohamed Hany, Rami Rabia, Sabry Rahil and Ahmed Fathi, while Kostas Manolas replaced Vainqueur for Roma.

Ten minutes into the second half, Hossam Ghaly missed a chance to give Al Ahly the lead as his shot went wide. One minute later, Walid Soliman scored as he slotted Momen Zakaria’s pass into the net with his right foot.

At the one-hour mark, Ekramy saved Mohamed Salah’s left-footed shot from outside of the box. Few minutes later, Amr El-Sulaya came on to replace Ghaly before Ahmed El-Sheikh replaced Momen.

Fifteen minutes to full time, Gabonese striker Malick Evouna, who came on to replace Antwi, was close to double his side’s lead, but his shot from the center of the box went off target. El-Sulaya and El-Said had their attempts but were either blocked by Roma defense or went wide of the post.

In the first minute of the added time, William Vainqueur equalised for Roma making it 3-3. Pjanic passed to Vainquer, who controlled the ball and sent it with his right foot into the top corner.

When the game seemed to be ending in a draw, substitute Ahmed El-Sheikh scored the winner for Al Ahly, after he sent the ball into the bottom left corner of the net to end the match with a 4-3 victory for the Cairo giants.

This marked the third meeting between Al Ahly and Roma in history, with their previous friendly in 2002 ending 2-1 for the Red Devils, while the Giallorossi won 3-0 in 2008.
